Observation

Observation is often called a primitive data collection technique, however observations are part of daily life. Observation carried out scientifically is systematic and objective. Behavior (direct observation) and the impact of the behavior (indirect observation) analysis of a group or single person is carried out. This method provides access to a specific social phenomena: the impact of the stimuli, which cannot be studied with a telephone or personal question.

Ethnographic observation
A modern development of observation is the ethnographic observation. The assumption is that a brand or a product decision does not lie with one person. The question that arises is how people interact with brands and products within their own cultural contexts and with groups of friends and acquaintances. Ethnographic research takes place at the actual location of the consumer behavior - at a bar, supermarket, restaurant, gym or at home. Thus, finer and more detailed statements about the customer are possible. The result is like a documentary film, a deep network analysis of the actors.
